Mining Guide

Mining is one of the primary
professions found in the game World of Warcraft. It is an
advantageous skill, as other professions depend on it and you
can make some money on the way. This WoW Mining Guide
will provide you with information useful in getting an idea
about this valuable profession.
Minerals, ores, and stones are found in resource
nodes all over Azeroth. While questing, fighting, and
exploring, you will undoubtedly come across them. Why not
benefit from these naturally occurring items by learning some
Mining?
The three chief professions requiring materials
obtained from Mining are Blacksmithing, Engineering, and
Jewelcrafting. Along with Herbalism and Skinning, it is a
collecting profession. Many players contend that it is the most
profitable. It is wise to learn two collecting professions at
the start of the game when attempting to maximize income.

They can then sell the items they gather and
switch to crafting once the skill level is capped. Crafted
items will generate money, and you can continue to craft items
derived from mined material. If crafting is your goal, it is a
good idea to combine Mining with Blacksmithing, Engineering, or
Jewelcrafting.
Of course, you will need something with which to
mine. You can find a mining pick for sale by non-player
characters such as a mining supplier, a blacksmithing supplier,
or an engineering supplier. It is the job of any WoW Mining
Guide to alert you to the fact that you will need trained, just
like any other profession.
After training, you are able to right-click on the
"Find Minerals" icon, and mineral nodes will appear on the
mini-map when you are near them. Upon discovering them,
right-click on them and see what you get! If at first you don’t
succeed, try, try again. Keep mining until the node
disappears.
To increase your Mining skill level, it is best to
avoid grey nodes. They will of course yield ore and stone, but
they will never increase your skill level. As with other
skills, the chances of increasing your skill level range from
green to orange. Red indicates that you have insufficient skill
to mine that node.
Don’t forget your manners when going out to mine.
It is considered rude to use any speed boosters to beat someone
to a node. In areas where Saronite or Titanium nodes are
abundant, this will go out the window. It is also considerate
to wait until someone engaged in battle is finished to see if
they were going to mine a node nearby.
Nice guys finish last, though, so most players
won’t wait and will dive right in. However, if you help to kill
the mob someone is fighting, they will often allow you to split
the node with them, increasing both of your skill levels.
The tips and information found here in this WoW
Mining Guide will help you get started on an exciting career
path. Now all you have to do is get some training and get out
there and explore!
