Hi, good . You will see in this
second part of the WoW Blacksmithing Guide
that it takes all kinds of people and professions to make the
world go round, and that philosophy is no different in World of
Warcraft. Among the many primary professions in Azeroth,
Blacksmithing is one of the most valuable. You will see in this
WoW Blacksmithing Guide why it is such an important skill.

Hopefully it isn’t news to you that Azeroth is a violent
place. With all of the creatures and other players running
around looking for blood, you are bound to get in fights. In
fact, you can’t level up without it. There’s nothing like
quality weapons and armor to help you in battle, and that is
where Blacksmithing can come in handy.
Blacksmithing enables a character class to forge weapons and
armor out of the metals obtained by Mining. Classes skilled in
Blacksmithing can also create sharpening and weight stones to
improve the damage delivered by weapons. Paladins and Warriors
especially benefit from skills in Blacksmithing, due to their
ability to use many weapons and wear a variety of armor. Some
weapons and armor are singular to the Blacksmithing process;
you will not find them from monster drops or at a vendor. Other
professions, such as Enchanting, depend on Blacksmiths to
create items required for recipes. Best of all, since a
Blacksmith is able to create items found nowhere else,
additional income can be had at the Auction House.
As previously mentioned in this WoW Blacksmithing Guide,
miners provide Blacksmiths with the metals needed to smelt into
weapons and armor. It is therefore recommended to be skilled in
Mining as well. Though not required in becoming a Blacksmith,
you can in essence eliminate the middle man by extracting your
metals from the ore.
Just as you would in any skill, you need to be trained in
Blacksmithing. They are located all over Azeroth, usually by an
anvil or forge. If finding one on your own isn’t working,
simply ask one of the knowledgeable guards in a major city.
Blacksmithing trainers are busy and do not wish to waste
their time on everybody who comes around, so you must be at
Level 5 to begin training. The initial cost is 10 copper, which
leads to Apprentice level proficiency. From here, you will
improve all the way to Grand Master at Level 60.
Practice makes perfect, so they say, and this holds true
with Blacksmithing. To progress through the stages, you must
continue to forge and craft items. The plans you learn will
change from orange, to yellow, to green, and finally to grey.
It is necessary to continue to find and complete higher skill
plans in order to progress. New plans become available about
every 5-10 points. Plans are taught by trainers, snatched from
corpses, received as quest rewards, or purchased at the Auction
House.
And just like many professions, Blacksmiths can specialize.
The five available specialties are:
- Armorsmithing
- Weaponsmithing
- Axesmithing
- Hammersmithing
- Swordsmithing
With the information in this WoW Blacksmithing Guide and
some practice, your character will possess the skills to go
forth into battle successfully.
I hope you found this WoW Blacksmithing Guide helpful.
All the best
Adam
