On Azeroth, just as in real life,
you want a profession that others depend on and one that
generates cash, right? Well, mining might be the job for you.
This World of Warcraft Mining Guide will illustrate some
things you may wish to consider when deciding if this
profession is right for your character class.
Resource nodes are found throughout Azeroth. The
primary profession of Mining provides you with the ability to
extract, minerals, ores, and stones from these nodes. These
materials are needed by blacksmiths, engineers, and
jewelcrafters.

How nice would it be to gather all of these items
and sell them to other professions for a little profit now and
then? Since they are scattered everywhere, and you are going to
come across them in everything you do while playing World of
Warcraft, Mining is a handy profession for money-making.
If you are even remotely familiar with
professions, you of course know that you will need to be
trained in Mining. Once you have located a trainer and have
been schooled in basic Mining, you will need to find a mining
pick. They can be purchased from trade merchants or other
merchants found near mining trainers.
Master Mining abilities require a skill level of
over 300 and you will need to be trained on the Hellfire
Peninsula in Outland. To acquire Grand Master Mining
capabilities, you will need a skill level of 375-450 and travel
to Northrend. Alliance members will learn from Fendrig Redbeard
or Grumbol Stoutpick. Horde players should seek Jonathan Lewis.
Either side may learn from Jedidiah Handers at the Magus
Commerce Exchange.
Once you have visited the trainers listed in this
World of Warcraft Mining Guide, you will need to find mineral
veins. Click your "Find Minerals" icon while playing and they
will show up on the mini-map when you are close by. You will
have to explore in order to find them. Often, they are found
around quest locations, inside mines (obviously), and near
mountains. It is a good idea to discover a repeatable path
between the nodes you uncover.
To begin mining, simply right-click on a mineral
vein. You may find some minerals or even some rough stone.
Success is never certain, so try again if you fail. Mine the
vein until it is gone.
It would be incredibly remiss of me if I didn't
mention in the World of Warcraft Mining Guide that
occasionally, you will encounter another player who is after
the same node as you. Incredibly nice people will allow the
other player to mine it all for themselves. Greedy players will
try to take it all, and some will offer to alternate mining
turns, enabling them both to boost their skill level.
It is, however, generally poor form to jump on a
node if someone is fighting a monster near one. They may well
be planning to mine it. Also, do not use speed enhancing
methods to blow by someone if you see them heading for the same
node. Don’t be that jerk who hammers on the accelerator in a
parking lot just to get two spots closer.
Using the etiquette and techniques in this World
of Warcraft Mining Guide, you can start your path to digging
for fun and profit!
I hope you found this World of Warcraft Mining
Guide helpful.
All the best
