World of Warcraft is a role-playing game, more specifically a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), involving several types of characters, both player characters and non-player characters. Player characters are those that are handled by an actual person playing the game, and non-player characters are those controlled by the software. Players can choose roles selected from various character classes. The classes included (in alphabetical order, not necessarily in order of preference or abilities) in the game are:

To accomplish these quests, also known as missions or tasks, players often join a group of others and pool their characters’ talents. These groups are called guilds and are intended to accomplish tasks that may be too difficult for a single player to handle. This is why it is important to understand your character’s strengths and weaknesses in order to assist the group in the best way possible.
